Become a Master Logger
1. Be an eligible candidate for certification.
Owners of logging businesses are eligible to apply. Businesses can be sole-proprietorships, partnerships, or corporations that
purchase stumpage and/or control timber harvesting, and own timber harvesting equipment.
2. Submit a completed application and the application fee.
Interested applicants should contact our office for an application or download one here: Master Logger Certification Program

3. Participate in a certification interview.
The interview is an opportunity for applicants to tell us about how their company does business as well as tell us how the
Master Logger Certification Program can benefit them.
4. Participate in a certification audit of your work on three timber sales.
Two auditors conduct the certification audits of three recent timber sales. Audits assess the implementation of Master Logger
program standards.
5. Review your certification interview and audit, and provide feedback.
Applicants has an opportunity to review the completed interview and audit, ask questions, and provide feedback to the
Program staff and to the Certifying Board.
6. The Certifying Board reviews your audit recommends certification.
The interview, audit, and the applicant's feedback is provided to the Certifying Board, which then determines certification.
7. Participate in the re-certification process.
Master Loggers are re-certified on a variable basis. Re-certification audits are conducted periodically. Implementation of the
Master Logger program standards are assessed on one sale site.
